Willian da Silva is a Music Major at Mississippi State University. He started his music journey in Brazil, at Anthenor Navarro State School of Music, with Sara Martins, in his hometown João Pessoa, state of Paraíba. After that, he was accepted into the Federal University of Paraíba, under the guidance of Dr. Vianey Santos. Willian performed in many concerts as a soloist, such as Beethoven's Choral Fantasy, and the Christmas Concert with the Symphony Orchestra of Paraíba. He also performed Mozart opera selections in a concert called "Painel Mozart”, with the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Federal University of Paraíba. In 2019, he was selected by Internacionale Chorakademie Lübeck and Mozarteum Brasileiro to participate, with a total scholarship, in Canto em Trancoso Academy, a summer program focused on intensive coaching, and voice lessons with great professors, such as Lucia Duchonová, Marcel Boone and Renate Arends. The final concert was conducted by the director of the academy, Rolf Beck, and they performed Vivaldi’s Gloria, and Bach’s Magnificat. Willian also participated in two editions of the Linus Lerner International Singing Contest – Brazil Edition, having won Maude Salazar Award in 2020 and the 2nd general place in 2021. In 2022, he was selected to participate in a summer program called Canto Mozarteum, in São Paulo, with a full scholarship. Now, at Missississipi State, he is a student in Mr. Peter Infanger’s Voice Studio, teaches voice for the Community Music School, and is part of the State Singers and OPUS, MSU choral ensembles. With all this experience and hard work, Willian aspires to be a professional opera singer.
